The Banff Springs hotel opened in 1888. Soon after, the hotel undertook a 28-year remodel that promptly caught fire and burned. From the ashes rose a larger, bigger hotel. For 3 years during World War II, the hotel closed its doors, only to reopen to face even more challenges. The hotel shifted with the times, before undergoing a restoration in the 1990's. The Fairmont Banff Springs hotel is now an exquisite place to visit and stay. It is a Canadian historic site and the perfect place for a fairytale wedding.
Amenities
The hotel houses two golf courses, four restaurants, a 38,000 square foot spa and plenty of room to have the wedding of a lifetime.
Tradition
The tradition of weddings at the hotel dates back to at least the 1920's. One of the many lingering spirits haunting the hotel is reported to be a bride.
Setting
The hotel claims the title "Castle in the Rockies." The large, majestic hotel sitting against the Rockies surrounded by the Banff National Park certainly looks like it could be a castle. Wedding pictures can be taken outside with the Rocky Mountains as a backdrop.
Assistance
The hotel's wedding planners make sure that no detail is overlooked.
Packages
As part of the Fairmont chain of hotel, The Banff Spring hotel offers a variety of packages for weddings, engagements and honeymoons. In one package, getting married and honeymooning at Fairmont earns a gift card with 5 percent back of the wedding cost for use during the honeymoon.
