Snoqualmie Pass is a city in Washington best known for its amazing winter activities. The Summit at Snoqualmie, as it's known, offers dozens of different activities ranging from skiing to ice skating. Once the winter snow melts, though, they area brings brand-new activities perfect for families. Some family-friendly activities are horseback riding and camping.
On the Water
Summertime brings a lot of different family activities in the Snoqualmie Pass area. On the water, families have the option of renting a boat from Box Canyon Outfitters. This local company specializes in the rental of canoes, kayaks, and other types of water equipment. Families can take a short trip out on the water or spend the entire day on the water. They also have the option of renting water skis or jet skis if they have older children in the family. There's also swimming and fishing.
On the Land
On land, families visiting Snoqualmie Pass can take a horseback ride. High Country Outfitters, Happy Trails, Flying Horseshoe Ranch, and Three Peaks Outfitters all offer horseback riding lessons and trips. Badger Pocket Bison Ranch raises its own bison on site and gives visitors the chance to see the animals up close. There's also the option of camping and hiking on one of the nature trails in the area. Visiting Rodeo Bowl lets families bowl together and then try out the arcade.
In the Air
Families who feel more adventurous can take to the sky with one of the trips from Northwest Soaring. The company offers hang gliding lessons and rents hang gliders for day trips. It's a great way to see the scenery and spend an entire day together as a family. There are some restrictions regarding age, which means it's a better choice for families with older children or teens, but those who have done it claim that it was an amazing experience.
Wintertime Activities
Snoqualmie Pass comes to life during the winter. The Summit at Snoqualmie provides lessons for children and families, and even offers a special program for children as young as 3. Tubing, which sends people down the mountain on large inner tubes, is another fun activity for families. Families can also go skiing, snowboarding, or ice skating, and the equipment can be rented for all activities so families don't need to worry about dragging it all from home.
