Hop aboard a Disney cruise.
Disney owns some of the biggest amusement parks in the world, but it decided to branch out into cruise ships. These ships are perfect for families and anyone who loves Disney characters, especially since the characters roam through the ship over the course of the cruise. Those who plan to climb on board the ship, however, should keep in mind some tips that will make the cruise easier and more enjoyable.
Palo
Palo is an adult restaurant on the Disney cruise ship, which means it isn't appropriate for children. The waiting list at Palo is fairly long, and experts recommend booking a room before boarding the ship to ensure a space. It also has a dress code, which is semi-formal. There are some couples, however, who wear tuxedos and long dresses when dining at the restaurant.
Clothing
When wandering the cruise ship, casual wear is the best choice. Many people wear clothing with the Disney logo or purchase clothing like this from one of the gift shops. When it comes to dinner, casual wear isn't allowed, and Disney recommends wearing collared shirts, long pants or skirts. It's considered poor taste to wear T-shirts or shorts to dinner.
Dine and Play Program
The Dine and Play Program started on Disney cruises in June 2009. It works by letting kids eat faster and letting parents check their children into youth activities quickly while they're eating. Parents simply tell the waiter when they sit down that they want the Dine and Play. The waiter brings the child's food, and after the child's finished eating, she is sent to the youth activities section until her parents finish eating.
Early Start
When it comes to Disney cruises, things tend to book quickly. Experts recommend booking events and attractions as early as possible, even on the day the travelers board the ship. There's no telling when one of the shore excursions will fill up the day before the trip. Also, any guest who wants to send mail should drop it off at the post office as soon as possible because it can take weeks for the mail to go through.
Lines
Lines at the restaurants are usually long, but many guests don't realize that most of these restaurants have multiple entrances. Cookie's is a good example of this because the main entrance is typically full of people, but the side entrances have much shorter lines. It's also important to remember that eating earlier or later than normal can result in shorter lines.
