Hotel 6 Reviews

Motel 6 has affordable rates starting from $29.99 as of August 2009. The hotel features single and double rooms, connecting rooms, swimming pools, and wheelchair-accessible rooms. There is also a seniors program for those 60 years old and older, and you receive a 10 percent discount. All Motel 6 locations offer free morning coffee, free local calls with no long-distance access fees, data ports in every room, free HBO, ESPN, ESPN2, Discovery Channel, Weather Channel and CNN. Pets are welcome, and there is no fee or deposit required.
Wows and Woes

The most attractive feature of this hotel is its low prices for a clean room. Everything is simple, basic and to the point, and for those traveling and not staying in the room much, this is a perfect bargain.
The negative aspect is that Motel 6s are located in areas with potentially high crime rate. Because these are mainly transient hotels, they attract some shady characters.

Insider Tips

To take advantage of high travel dates, use the Internet to book travel. You can save time and money, and choose the location best suited for your needs. Also call the hotel and ask if any conventions or special events are scheduled during your stay so you can request a room away from the potential noise.

Author's Most Memorable Moment

During a trip to Las Vegas in November 2008, I forgot my laptop in the room. I arrived at the local airport for my flight when I realized what had happened. Since it was nearby, I went to get my computer and the maid had turned it in, showing her true honesty. I gave her a $50 tip to thank her.

Bottom Line

Public transportation can be a risk in certain locations. The hotels usually are near freeway exits, with family-style restaurants within three to five miles of the motel for affordable dining.
