Free Activities for Kids in Virginia Beach VA
Where the Chesapeake Bay dumps into the Atlantic Ocean sits a city called Virginia
beach. Virginia Beach is a popular destination for many people on the east coast, including families with children. There are
beaches and fun things to do around the area and businesses and organizations thrive on the monies earned from tourists, some specifically from kids. There are also free things for kids to do and still have fun in Virginia Beach.
Go Skateboarding
Mount Trashmore Skatepark is a large skatepark with picnic areas and large open areas for flying a kite. Kids are allowed to skate, but parents must sign them in to obtain a writsband.

Go to the Beach
Virgina Beach boasts 14 miles of public beaches. Kids can build a sandcastle, fly a kite and enjoy the waves. Be careful and stay near a lifeguard.
Be Entertained at the Boardwalk
Along Virginia Beach's main boardwalk, from First Street to 31st Street, there are traditional boardwalk games and foods that most kids love, and free activities and events. They include car shows, musical concerts and festivals like the Atlantic Coast Kite Festival, the Great American Backyard BBQ and Hardee's Latin Fest.
Enjoy the Fireworks
Fireworks are launched off the 20th street barge and can be seen all along the boardwalk area every few nights throughout the summer. They usually occur at 10:00 p.m., except on rare occasions like the Fourth of July, in which case, they are set to go off at 9:30.
Visit a Park
Virginia Recreation and Parks have many parks thoughout the Virginia Beach area. Kids can bike, hike, rollerblade, play on playgrounds and fly a kite. Some parks have basketball, volleyball and tennis courts. Parks include City View Park, where there are softball fields, walking trails, and playgrounds; and Red Wing Park, which has many gardens and badminton courts. Parks open at 7:30 and usually close at 11:00 p.m.
