Hawaii is the land of hula, leis, luaus, and beautiful beaches and oceans. Traveling to Hawaii can be costly, depending on where you live, but is well worth it for a relaxing vacation. To plan a trip to Hawaii, you'll need to figure out where you want to go in the islands, what sights you want to see, and how long you plan to stay.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Things You'll Need:
  • Computer or travel agent

Step 1

Choose your destination in the Hawaiian islands. Research what each island has to offer online or via travel guides you can obtain from a travel agent. By finding out the differences between the islands, you can narrow down your vacation destination based on what you are looking to do on your getaway.

Step 2

Determine how much time you want to spend on your vacation in Hawaii. This will determine what you will have time to do and see, and also help you figure out if you can go to multiple islands or if you will need to conserve your time and visit just one island.

Step 3

Set a budget. This will also help your planning in terms of what you will be able to do and see in the Hawaiian islands and also determine if you will have enough money to travel between islands or if it would be better financially for you to stay on a single island.

Step 4

Research things to do online and discuss plans with friends. Talk with friends who have traveled to Hawaii and also to a travel agent or two, to figure out what you want to see while you are in Hawaii. They might know of things you won't come across in a standard web search of Hawaii, and can help you find some lesser-known treasures the islands have to offer.

Step 5

Create a travel plan. Make a list of the days you will be in Hawaii and then fill in each day with what you intend on seeing and doing. If there are specific events going on in Hawaii during your stay, make sure you put those in the list for that day and schedule the other things you plan on doing around that. For additional planning purposes, you might want to include a daily budget with your plans. This will help you stay within your overall travel budget and make sure you have enough money for each day you are in Hawaii.
