Interesting Places in Fiji

A trip to Fiji is the vacation of a lifetime, so you need to make sure you don't miss a thing. With 333 islands spread across 200,000 square miles of ocean, Fiji's sheer size lends itself to a diverse arena of places you can visit. But be sure to do your research before you arrive-- you won't want to waste any time.
Tomb of Udre Udre

Perhaps one of the world's most infamous cannibals in history, Fijian Chief Udre Udre, is buried on the island of Viti Levu. It is here that you can visit his tomb, which is surrounded by nearly 900 stones, each representing one of the many victims that Chief Udre Udre himself cannibalized.

The tomb is located in Rakiraki, Viti Levu, Fiji.

Navala Village

If you're looking to get a glimpse of traditional Fijian life, visit the Navala Village. This is one of the only remaining villages that continues to use bures, which are thatch buildings that Fijians use for houses. Most other villages have chosen to "upgrade" to concrete homes, so by visiting the Navala Village you can get a taste of what true and traditional Fijian life is like.

Navala Village is located in Navala Valley, Lautoka, Viti Levu

Sri Siva Subramaniya Temple

Sri Siva Subramaniya Temple is the largest Hindu temple in the Southern Hemisphere, and it also one of the interesting. This temple was built and designed in an overwhelmingly Indian style, which is very different from traditional Fijian style. Much of the interior also reflects this theme, as the temple contains many statues that were bought here from India.

The temple can be visited in Nadi's town center.

Sigatoka Sand Dunes

The Sigatoka Sand Dunes are Fiji's first national park, and a proposed UNESCO World Heritage Site. The Sand Dunes are an archaeologist's dream, as under the sand lies hidden reminders of Fiji's past. Among the finds have been shards of ancient pottery, stone tools, and even human remains. You will be amazed at the amount of sand in one place.

The Sigatoka Sand Dunes are located on the southwest coast of Viti Levu, about 3 kilometers west of Sigatoka Town.

Poseidon Mystery Island

If you're looking for a once-in-a-lifetime experience, you need to visit Poseidon Mystery Island. Poseidon Mystery Island is a an undersea resort, located 40 feet underwater on the seafloor, among the fishes and the sharks. Though incredibly expensive (a cool $30,000 per couple per week), you will have the ultimate underwater experience as you are able to eat, sleep, dance and romance on the bottom of the ocean.

Where is this resort? Well, that's part of the mystery. Your adventure will begin upon arrival in Nadi, where you will then board another plane to take you to the island.
