Whitehead Street Pottery is located in the picturesque
beach city of Key West in Florida. Whitehead Street Pottery specializes in Raku firing of pottery (see resources). Raku firing is a form of a primitive Japanese firing method. Metallic oxides are used a glazes in a fire that burns between 1900 and 2400 degrees F. The material is removed and then buried in seaweed, which gives their work a primitive cracked appearance.
