Fun Things to Do in Ocean City, New Jersey

Ocean City, New Jersey is located between Wildwood and Atlantic City. It has plenty to offer vacationers and locals alike. There is the ocean, the boardwalk, restaurants, miniature golf, dining and shows. There are plenty of activities to do on the beach when the weather is good. On those bad weather days, or if you just aren't a beach fan, there are other entertaining options. Whether you are looking for a day full of recreation, or just some time to relax, you can do both in this destination.
The Beach

The beach in Ocean City, New Jersey offers a nice gentle slope as you enter the water and it gradually slopes downward increasing the depth of the water. Unlike other beaches to the north, there is not a sharp drop to the beach as you go further out. This results in relatively calm waves until you get well out into the water, making it a good beach for families and children.

You can expect to find a large number of shells on the seashore. If you would like a guide to the different shells you are seeing or collecting, there is a beach walk to teach you about the shells during the months of July and August. It is held at the Corsons Inlet State Park on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 9:30 a.m. and in the evening on Wednesdays at 6:30 p.m. The cost is $1 for adults and 50 cents for children.

The Boardwalk

The boardwalk spans a total of two and a half miles. The area with the most shopping and entertainment though, is located between sixth and fourteenth streets. In this area, you will find rides, rollercoasters and miniature golf courses. You will also find two different movie theaters for your family to enjoy on a rainy day or for a break from the other boardwalk entertainment.

Dining

Ocean City offers a large variety of restaurants. There are small stands that sell items, such as subs, hoagies, pizza, hot dogs, hamburgers and wraps. There are also sit down restaurants, with a large number of Italian offerings, but there are also Mexican and Asian restaurants in town as well. One thing that you will find is that these restaurants do not serve alcohol. Ocean City is a dry town, in that the restaurants and businesses will not serve alcohol to their customers.
