The Florida Keys are the perfect vacation destination for those looking to experience all the beauty and wonder Florida has to offer. Splash in spectacular turquoise waters, bask in the sun, see fine art, charter a fishing boat, see museums, all within the thin strips of land at the southern tip of Florida. See the southernmost point of the
United States, enjoy fine dining and much more on a Florida Keys vacation.
Key West
See the southernmost point of the United States in sunny Key West, Florida. Jimmy Buffet fans and laissez faire types will love this relaxing, beautiful tropical wonderland. Swim and snorkel off the beaches, then enjoy fine dining in one of the many area restaurants. Tour Ernest Hemingway's home or patron Sloppy Joe's, his favorite bar. You won't want to miss the sunset celebration in Mallory Square, where visitors applaud the beautiful sunset.
Islamorada
Called the "sports fishing capital of the world," Islamorada is a fisherman's paradise. If you don't have a boat of your own to take to the Keys, charter one in Islamorada. Charters last anywhere from just a couple hours to all day trips. Catch and release marlin, tuna, sailfish, and wahoo fish. For non-fishers, try a tour of the Lignumvitae Key State Botanical Site, accessible by a brief boat ride from Robbie's Marina.
Big Pine Key
If you love exploring the ocean below, look no further than Big Pine Key. Big Pine Key is famous the world over for being a must-see snorkeling and scuba diving destination. There are many full-service dive shops at Big Pine Key, many having multiple dives throughout the day to fit into your schedule. Some even have night dives available. You can bring your own equipment, or rent through the dive shops.
Key Largo
Key Largo is closest to popular Florida destinations such as Miami and the surrounding south Florida cities, making it a perfect fit for your Florida Keys vacation. Because of its proximity to the Miami airport, it is an easy choice for the end of your trip. Try swimming, parasailing and fishing. Or, explore the fine dining options like Flamingo Seafood Restaurant or The Buzzards Roost.
