Argosy Casino Review

The Argosy is a small casino in downtown Sioux City, Iowa. It has 36,000 square feet of gaming, seven varieties of table games, more than 700 slot machines, meeting and convention space, and one restaurant. Centrally located, the Argosy Casino is close to downtown's entertainment. The casino is decorated in post-modern style and is clean and rather spacious. The casino offers catered lunches for business meetings and great meeting facilities.
Wows and Woes

The casino offers a lot of fun in a small amount of space. Despite its size, it felt spacious and not crowded. There was little sign of smoking, which was a nice change of pace from the typical Vegas casino.

Limited dining options and no entertainment were definite drawbacks. With only one restaurant, The Outfitters Grill, there was not much variety. The menu reminded me of basic cafeteria food with a twist of new age flavor. There was no area for music or any form of entertainment.

Insider Tips

The casino offers a player's reward card, which is tied into other properties it owns.

Author's Most Memorable Moment

While killing time on my business trip, I decided to play craps on a $5 table. After playing for nearly 45 minutes, I had won more than $400 betting on the field line. It was wonderful to know I made money without even trying.

Bottom Line

This is an affordable casino where a visitor can enjoy the Vegas-like atmosphere without the overcrowding and noise. The staff was friendly, courteous and helpful.
