Hamilton, New Zealand is located on the country's north island. It is located on the banks of the Waikato River, and is New Zealand's largest inland city and fourth largest overall. The city is home to several youth hostels intended for tourists looking for a cheap place to stay.

Js Backpackers is located a short walk from the Hamilton Gardens, one of the city's most famous attractions, as well as several of Hamilton's riverside walkways. It is also very close to the airport and Waikato University. The hostel has dorms as well as rooms with twin or double beds. A fully equipped kitchen is available with complimentary coffee, tea, herbs and spices. The hostel has a brick outdoor fireplace and a barbecue area. The hostel has wireless Internet, a washing machine and dryer, and complimentary pick up and drop off as well as assistance with booking tours and activities.

YHA Hamilton Microtel
YHA Hamilton Microtel is located very close to the center of Hamilton. The Microtel is a member of the Youth Hostel Association of New Zealand. Guests can choose between dorms, single rooms, double rooms, and self-contained studios. The dorms have shared bathrooms, while the single and double rooms share a bathroom with a connecting room. The studios have their own connected bathrooms and showers, air conditioning, and guests in these rooms are provided access to a sauna.
