How to Use the Garmin 60CSX GPS
The Garmin GPSMap 60CSx is a hand-held navigational device that can help you find your way whether by land or by sea. Learning to use the GPSMap 60CSx is simple. You will be off adventuring with your Garmin 60CSX GPS before you know it.

Initialize your Garmin GPSMap 60CSx receiver before using it for the first time. Take the GPS receiver outside, away from mountains, tall buildings or thick foliage to a location where the GPS antenna has an unobstructed view of the sky. Turn on the receiver by pressing and holding the "Power" button. The screen will display a "Locating Satellites" message, followed by an "Acquiring Satellites" message. When the on-screen display changes, press the "Page" button until the Map Page displays.
Create "Waypoints" for your Garmin GPSMap 60CSx. Waypoints are locations you save so that you can use them to create routes later. Save your current location as a Waypoint at any time by pressing and holding the "Mark" button. When the "Mark Waypoint Page" appears, choose to accept the randomly generated Waypoint name or use the keypad to give your Waypoint a custom name. When you have finished naming the Waypoint, press "Enter" to save.
Use your Garmin GPSMap 60CSx to find a location by name. Press "Find" to open the Find Menu. Use the arrow keys to highlight the appropriate icon for the type of destination you are seeking and press "Enter." Press the "Menu" button, use the arrow keys to highlight the "Find by Name" option and press "Enter" to select. Use the arrow and Enter keys to operate the on-screen keyboard and enter the name of your intended destination. When you have selected your destination from the list of search results, highlight "Okay" and press "Enter." Information on the destination will be displayed. Choose to save the destination as a Waypoint or press "Go To" to begin navigating the route.
Use your Garmin GPSMap 60CSx to find a Geocache. Geocaching is a popular hobby, best described as a high-tech version of hide and seek. To use your GPS receiver to find a hidden Geocache, press "Find" to open the Find Menu. Highlight "Geocache" and press "Enter." The Geocache Page will open to display a list of Found" and Not Yet Found Geocaches. Use the arrow keys to highlight a Geocache on the list and press "Enter." Select "Go To" and press "Enter" to begin navigating to the selected Geocache. When you have located the Geocache, your GPS receive will mark that Geocache as found.
Create a route to find a specific address with your Garmin GPSMap 60CSx. Press the "Find" button to open the Find Menu. Use the arrow keys to highlight the "Addresses" icon and press "Enter." The Addresses Page will be displayed. Highlight "Enter Number" and use the on-screen keypad to enter the number of your destination address, then press "Enter." When you have entered the number, highlight "Okay" and press "Enter." Highlight "Enter Street Name" and press the "Enter" button. Enter the destination street name using the on-screen keypad, press "Okay," then "Enter." The full address will display. Use the arrow keys to highlight it, press "Enter" and then "Go To" to begin navigating the route.
