How to Set a Combination Lock on a Briefcase
Your combination lock briefcase will come with a default code that can be used to open and lock the briefcase. If you have problems remembering this code or you simply want to change it so that others will not know the code, you will have to reset the combination lock. Combination locks are made so that they can be reset without much difficulty. It's probably a good idea to change the code to the lock a few times a year.
Open the briefcase. To do this, turn the numbers of the combination lock to the default combination. This can be found either on the tag or in the booklet that came with the briefcase.
Find the switch located behind the combination lock. Hold that switch to either the left or right (depending on your briefcase).
Change the three digits of the combination lock to a code that you will remember. Remember to hold the switch mentioned in Step 2 while changing the code. Close the briefcase. Change the three digits of the combination lock to random numbers.
Turn the three numbers of the combination lock to the code you chose in the previous step. You should be able to open the briefcase.
