The New England Aquarium hosts whale watching expeditions from the pier next to the aquarium. The ship, the Voyager III, heads out to explore the wondrous world of the big blue sea about twice a day for three to four hour whale watching tours. The cost is separate from the aquarium. The ship provides seating, tables and a snack bar. Common whale sightings include humpback whales and the Atlantic Right Whale. Both species are not as plentiful as they once were. The whales stay throughout the month of April through October before leaving the coast and the plentiful fishing. Subsequently, the New England Aquarium Whale Watching expeditions occur only during these months. An expert is on-board the ships as it sails to answer questions.
