Ingredients for Italian food
Danbury's history dates back to the 1600's, although it was not incorporated as a city until 1889. Located in the northern part of Connecticut, Danby is the seventh largest city in the state and was formerly known for hat manufacturing--a derby even appears on the city seal because of this. Whether you're in the mood for authentic Italian food, "Americanized" Italian food or plain old pizza, Danby has something for you.
Cafe on the Green Restaurant
Cafe on the Green Restaurant is located on the Richter Park Golf Course and specializes in fine northern Italian cuisine. This upscale restaurant has an elegant, sophisticated ambiance, as evidenced by its white linens, fresh flowers and olive oil on every table. Café on the Green was the recipient of Wine Spectator's Grand Award for the fifth year in a row in 2009 and was noted as one of the best restaurants in Connecticut in the 2008-2009 Zagat Survey Restaurant Guide. Some specialties on the dinner menu include Grazia di Tortellini, featuring cheese tortellini, prosciutto and sweet peas in a light pink cream sauce; and Scaloppine Di Vitello Paradiso, which is a veal scaloppini sautéed with lobster and mozzarella in a light champagne sauce.

Spasi Restaurant
Spasi Restaurant opened its doors in 2003 and has a Soho-esque feel, with dim lighting, exposed duct work, brick walls and a wait staff dressed from head to toe in black. The focal point of the dining room is a large floor-to-ceiling wooden wine rack. Soft jazz music fills the dining room and antique posters adorn the walls. The menu is extensive and you'll find Italian classics such as Pollo Alla Parmigiana, a boneless breast of chicken topped with mozzarella and parmigiana cheeses and baked with a marinara sauce; as well as Bergamo Ravioli, which features veal- and pork-stuffed raviolis tossed with olive oil, garlic, basil and tomatoes with a vegetable stock.
