Walt Disney World lures more than 2 million people each year to the sunny shores of Florida. Disney World
resort owns a dozen hotels of all star levels that fly under the Disney banner. There are also many non-Disney hotels for those taking advantage of the warm sunshine and tourist attractions.
The lowest of the stars given out to hotels is the one star. The star classification is not a fool-proof method, as it gets compiled more like a government rating. It does not take in account atmosphere, décor or newness of an amenity. For example, having a pool is counted toward the number of stars; however, whether the pool is brand-new or 30 years old doesn't affect the number of stars. Hotels with one star tend to be on the small side, be independently owned and have limited facilities. The one-star hotels near Walt Disney World tend to be more chain-oriented.
