How to Get a 90-Day L Visa in China
If you are planning to visit China, you will need a 90 day L Visa. The L Visa is issued for touring, visiting family or for other personal affairs. You can apply for a single, double or multiple entry visa, each visa is valid for 90 days.

Step 1

Print and fill out the visa application form (see resources). You must fill in your personal details and outline the purpose of your trip.

Step 2

Submit your passport. Your passport must have at least six months validity before expiration, and also contain at least one blank page where the visa will be issued.

Step 3

Glue or staple a recent black and white or color photo of yourself on the front of the application form. The photo should be 2 inches by 2 inches.

Step 4

Include the visa application fee of $130 (for U.S. citizens). You can pay by cash, credit card (Visa or MasterCard), money order, cashier's check or personal check. The check or money order should be made out to the "Chinese Embassy" or "Chinese Consulate-General."

Step 5

Take all your documents to the nearest Chinese Embassy Or Consulate-General. No appointment is necessary. (To locate the embassy or consulate-general nearest to where you live, see resources.) You will be advised when to return to pick up your passport. The processing time is generally four business days.
