In the middle of Sleepy Hollow Country and historic Hudson Valley, West Park,
New York, is near many popular attractions such as the Vanderbilt Mansion National Historic Site, Franklin D. Roosevelt National Historic Site and the Culinary Institute of America. The area's wide array of restaurants offer culinary delights and memorable dining experiences.
Global Palate Restaurant
When husband and wife owners Brad and Jessica Winchell opened Golden Palate Restaurant in New York's Hudson Valley, they made a conscious commitment to bring their guests all-natural and organic foods produced locally. The restaurant's menu features wild and organic fish and locally-raised poultry and vegetables. In a little building on Route 9W, Golden Palate has two dining rooms connected by a bar. One of the dining rooms has a stone fireplace that is the focus of the room. Entrees at Golden Palate include North Wind Farm turkey pot pie, apple butter-glazed porterhouse pork chop and deconstructed beef bourguignonne. Open for dinner Wednesday through Sunday, the restaurant offers a Sunday brunch and a fixed-price menu on Wednesday and Thursday.

Aloy's Italian Restaurant, Poughkeepsie
Less than six miles from West Park and near the entrance to the Walkway over the Hudson Bridge, Aloy's Italian Restaurant has been serving the Hudson Valley since 1929. Aloy's has an extensive Italian menu featuring appetizers, salads and soups, pastas, casseroles, signature dishes, seafood entrees, pizzas and hot sandwiches. Signature dishes include a baked seafood platter, chicken almandine and a homemade ravioli of the day. Aloy's also has a children's menu and daily and weekday specials. The restaurant, which is open six days a week, is closed on Thursday.

Twist Restaurant, Hyde Park
In an unassuming strip mall location, Hyde Park's Twist is a hip and bustling restaurant just two miles from West Park. Owner chef Benjamin Mauk opened Twist in 2004, transforming a pizza eatery into a high-tech, brightly-colored casual American neighborhood restaurant with an open kitchen. Twist serves dinner Tuesday through Saturday. The menu features salads, entrees, steaks and desserts. Popular main dishes include sauteed black cod, seafood paella and roasted Colorado lamb chops. There are three different steaks on the menu. The dessert list includes chocolate hazelnut mousse, banana marscarpone wontons, almond cake and pear crisp with rosemary ice cream. Twist has an ample menu of imported and domestic beers, including craft beers on tap. It also has an extensive wine list, including a nice selection of regional wines.
