Things to Do at Night in Chicago

The Windy City is one of the most vibrant and bustling cities in America. Thankfully, this fact remains true at virtually all hours of the day. When the sun goes down, the city unveils a number of great attractions for night owls to enjoy. From food and family fun to world-class nightlife, Chicago truly has it all.
Navy Pier

Regardless of time of day, Navy Pier serves as Chicago's most popular tourist destination. The Pier serves as 50 acres of fun, and includes amusement rides, gardens, shops and other attractions. At night, visitors might enjoy partaking in a dinner boat cruise on Lake Michigan or a world-class theater performance at the Shakespeare Theater. The Navy Pier Ferris wheel, modeled after the first Ferris wheel that debuted at the 1893 Chicago World's Fair, is also a popular stop.

If dining on the water isn't for you, then you can enjoy a nice meal at one of the Pier's many restaurants. Various rides run at night, and special events and performances are often available as well. In the summer, a fireworks display is available on select days of the week.

Go To A Cub's Game

Though the Chicago Cubs play an unusually high number of day games throughout the year, enjoying a night game at Wrigley Field is a fun way to spend an evening. Whether you're a Cubs fan or not, the hot dogs, scenery and ballgame should be more than enough to satisfy the average sports fan. Of course, American League fans may be more interested in catching a White Sox game at U.S. Cellular Field.

Enjoy the Chicago Nightlife

Chicago is a town that's known to like the occasional beer or two. As such, it should come as no surprise that there is a vibrant bar scene in the city. Whether you're looking for a sports bar, neighborhood pub or dance club, there are plenty within the borders of Chicago. The Weed Street district is particularly happening, with popular bar destinations as Crobar, Sangria and Hogs & Honeys. Lakeview, a neighborhood that includes Wrigley Field, offers plenty of great sports bars and pubs. Lincoln Park is perhaps a better option for upscale lounges and dancing. Wicker Park is another good location with a solid mix of lounges, pubs and neighborhood chill-out spots.
