Located in Henderson, Nevada, The Sunset Station Hotel And Casino lies just south of the glittering
Las Vegas Strip. The
resort's Henderson location puts it in close proximity to local golf courses, The Galleria Mall and world class restaurants. If you are planning a quiet
family vacation, this hotel has much to offer. Special features include an on-site movie theater, 72-lane bowling alley and indoor playground.
Wows and Woes
Upon checking into the hotel, try to get an odd-numbered room located on one of the higher floors; this will give you a better chance of getting a room with a great view of the Strip.
Unlike other hotels, Sunset Station does not provide guests with shuttle service. Surrounded by good shopping and gas stations, the hotel is in a suburban location located at least a twenty minute drive from the heart of the Las Vegas Strip. You will need to rent a car to get around the city.
Insider Tips
This hotel gives its guests coupons that offer the opportunity to save a good amount of money. A coupon to get one meal free once you buy another is just one of the coupon savings offered to guests.
Author's Most Memorable Moment
My first time checking in at the Sunset Station was very memorable. I reserved a non-smoking room, but at check-in I was informed that the hotel only had smoking rooms available. I had to spend the first night of my stay in a smoking room. The room had a strong odor, and I coughed most of the night. I was happy when I was able to move into a different room the next morning.
Bottom Line
Give this place a try if you do not require a room on the strip. The hotel is not brand new, but it's in good shape. It's also relatively inexpensive.
