The family-owned Ol' Heidelberg has operated in Huntsville since 1972 and claims to serve the "best and most authentic German food" in one of the "oldest and most recognized" restaurants in the city, according to its website. Chef specialties include sauerbraten, beef rouladen, schweinebraten and goulash served over homemade spatzle. Eight varieties of sausage platters, sandwiches, pork, seafood, veal, and chicken round out the extensive menu. Ol' Heidelberg serves lunch and dinner daily and is located just off Highway 72 near the Madison Square Mall and Oakwood University.

The Nook‎

The Nook‎ tavern serves over 250 types of beer, including several German brands, and features live music Wednesday through Saturday nights. Tuesday nights are German Food Night (as of February 2010) and the rotating menu includes dishes such as stuffed cabbage, jagerschnitzel, beef goulash and rouladen. The Nook is located in West Huntsville near the intersection of Triana Boulevard and Bob Wallace Avenue.
