Kentucky is home to American history, heroes and hooch. There are also plenty of fun things to do and see in this state, including at least one thing that cannot not be regularly seen anywhere else in the world. Just exploring the natural wonders of Kentucky can be fun enough, but don't miss out on the excitement of the state's claim to sporting legends and the truly weird and wonderful museum devoted to an entertainment medium with the power to amaze and horrify.
The Moonbow
Only a few places in the world are capable of producing a moonbow and Cumberland Falls is the only place where a moonbow regularly occurs anymore. The moonbow is just what it sounds like: a rainbow produced the light of the moon. In order to view this spectacular sight, you'll need to hit Corbin, Kentucky two days before or after a full moon has taken place. The moonbow is produced as the result of lunar illumination being refracted in the mist that is produced by Cumberland Falls.
Vent Haven Museum
The Vent Haven Museum qualifies as a fun place in Kentucky because there is a certain eerie quality to these lifelike ventriloquist dolls that is somewhat disquieting. Even if you were never victimized by automatonophobia--the fear of ventriloquist dummies--you can't help but get a little freaked out by hundreds of dolls that now call this fascinating museum home.

Churchill Downs
The most famous racetrack in America is located in Kentucky. Churchill Downs is where every single Triple Crown winner began his gallop toward history and where so many others started on their way to heartbreak in Belmont. Anybody who loves horses will have a great time taking the Churchill Downs tour which includes a behind the scenes look at the training area where so much history has been made. Hit the tour at the right time and you just might get a look at the next Kentucky Derby winner. The Kentucky Derby museum is a testament to an event called the most exciting two minutes in sports and is not to be missed.
