Family Beach Vacation Ideas

What makes this island town so desirable is that it radiates with everything a beach vacation should be. Pathways perfect for walking or biking wind through the area allowing for easy access to tropical shops and island restaurants. You will never be far from the beach with a choice of lodging that ranges from small inns to more elaborate resorts. A major reason why Sanibel Island is ideal for families is its popularity for shelling. Families can easily fill their days combing the beaches and searching out the stunning shells for which the island is known.

Jamaica is a true tropical paradise and Ocho Rios is an ideal spot for families for two main reasons. First, it is a larger, touristy city so if you get tired of the beach, you'll still have plenty of other things to do. In addition, while about 90 minutes drive from the airport, the highway is much smoother than those to other parts of the island making it a little more comfortable for family travel. Whether you choose a standard hotel or an all-inclusive resort, you will have a wonderful time soaking up the sun and taking advantage of beach side activities and water sports such as horseback riding, swimming with dolphins, snorkeling and sailing.

Not all great beaches are located in a tropical destinations and the eastern coast of Ireland falls into this category. The beaches in this area have an identity all their own with terrains ranging from rocky coastlines to sparkling beach. During the summer you can take a quick swim with the locals near the rocks at Sandycove and then walk the secluded beaches at Killiney. Head even further south to Bray and you will find a large beach filled with families enjoying a day in the sun while taking in the stunning views of the ocean and nearby cliffs. All of these areas are located just a few minutes from Dublin City and are easily accessible by the Dublin Area Rapid Transit (DART).

Located about 70 miles from Portland along the Pacific coastline, Cannon Beach is an attractive spot for family vacations. During the summer months the town is lively with visitors, yet it still maintains a peaceful atmosphere that lets you know you are on vacation. The long stretch of coastline is overlooked by beautiful beach houses while the streets are lined with picturesque cottages. You can get up early and enjoy a tasty breakfast at the popular Pig 'n Pancake and then take in the beautiful views of Haystack Rock as the kiddies play in the sand.
