Origins
The duffel bag got its name from a Belgium town, where the material used the make the bags was produced. Originally, a high-quality thick, black fabric, the term "duffel" now refers to any sort of tube-like bag that can be made from various materials.
Warning
Depending on the policy of the airline, duffel bags may not always be carried onto planes if they are heavy. Weight restrictions related to safety may prevent some types of luggage from being used.
