The U.S. National Whitewater Center (USNWC) offers whitewater rafting, hiking and biking trails and a climbing center. Take jeans, shorts, a waterproof windbreaker, a swimsuit, T-shirt, tennis shoes and hiking shoes if you want to visit in the summer. Include a sweater, wool hat and gloves, long pants, long wool underwear, wool socks. You can rent a wet suit. Take sturdy shoes for biking and walking the trails. Do not pack outside food or coolers, as the park does not allow them. Do not forget to take your camera and extra film.

Fine Restaurants

Charlotte offers many fine restaurants for dining in the evening after your long day at other attractions. Pack skirts, dresses or suits for dining at The Blue Restaurant & Bar in the Hearst Tower or the Luce restaurant, as people in the South do dress up when going to nice restaurants.

Museums

The Charlotte Museum of History, Discovery Center and The Charlotte Nature Museum and the Carolinas Aviation Museum are just three of the many museums in Charlotte. Take a lightweight sweater and comfortable shoes for visiting these museums, but leave your camera in your hotel room if you visit The Charlotte Museum of History.

Carowinds Theme Park

Carowinds is a theme park offering rides, a water park and other attractions. Pack your swimsuit, towels, tennis shoes or sandals, sunscreen, shorts, jeans and a T-shirt. Leave food at the hotel because the park only allows food bought there.
