Nassau is the capital of the Bahamas and the largest city on the island. It is popular among tourists because of its warm temps, white sandy beaches, hot nightlife and daytime entertainment. Nassau lures in romancing honeymooners and wild spring breakers alike, and features a bevy of activities to cater to nearly every taste. If you're traveling to Nassau in the near future, this guide to activities in the city is a must see.
Take a Trip to the Past on Queen's Staircase

One of Nassau's most popular attractions is the Queen's Staircase. The solid limestone staircase, which is 102 feet long, was built by slaves in the late 18th century. Queen's Staircase was named in honor of Queen Victoria, and was an arduous process for the slaves who built it, hand by hand, carving the limestone with rocks. It is a historical landmark in the city and contains 65 steps. There is also a waterfall located along the steps as well.

Gamble at Crystal Palace Casino

Crystal Palace Casino is located inside of Wyndham Nassau resort. It contains about 30,000 square feet of blackjack, roulette, let-it-ride, baccarat and craps tables, as well as slot machines. The casino also features live shows in its Rain Forest Theater and a dance floor for guests who want to celebrate their winnings, throw up their hands and shake their hips.

Dolphin Encounters on Blue Lagoon Island

Swim with the dolphins at Blue Lagoon Island. This natural habitat is just a boat ride away, giving guests the opportunity to glance at historical city landmarks and breathtaking views as they travel to the island. Once guests arrive, they hop into the waters of the lagoon after a brief training session and swim with the dolphins. Kids also have a chance to interact with dolphins in a more shallow area of the lagoon.

Shop on Bay Street

Stroll down Bay Street and shop 'til you drop. This area is one of the most popular areas in the city for shopping and is lined with a variety of cafes, boutiques and local shops. It includes high end stores like Gucci and Fendi as well as Bahamian vendors selling goods along the street. Bargaining is one of the highlights of shopping on this street, and knowledgeable tourists bring cash to score the best deals.

Party at Club Waterloo

Dance the night away at Club Waterloo. Located in the heart of the city, tourists and locals alike head to this half indoor, half outdoor club and dance under the glow of strobe lights. A pool sits at its center and a DJ spins, techno, reggae, rock n' roll, calypso and hip hop. Live bands perform every weekend and there is a happy hour every day. Club Waterloo was originally a lakeside mansion, but was successfully turned into one of Nassau's party-packed faves.
