The Troy-Bumpas Inn Bed and Breakfast offers the classic style and beauty of a historical inn/B&B. Originally the home of the Reverend Sidney Bumpas and his wife, Frances, the house was built in 1847. Over the years, the surrounding neighborhood developed into the now-popular College Hill District. Today The Troy-Bumpas Inn Bed and Breakfast is listed on both the National Register of Historic Places and the Guilford Country Historic Register. Catering to both leisure and business travelers, The Troy-Bumpas Inn Bed and Breakfast places a premium on comfort, offering superior amenities ranging from Egyptian-cotton bedding to expertly prepared meals and baked goods. Guests are drawn to the history and romance of its beautifully furnished rooms as well as the attention to detail they find in the lovingly preserved home. Most importantly, innkeepers Andrea and John Wimmer believe it's the personal attention they give each guest that completes the Troy-Bumpas tradition of gracious hospitality. Spending time at the Inn is a matter of happy choices. The parlor is cozy, the living room grand, and the sun porch a wonderful place to enjoy a book or some of the Inn's freshly baked cookies, or both. Choose a side table for one or two or join the main table in the dining room; either way you'll enjoy a fantastic meal. Outdoors you can admire the landscaped grounds or strike off on a walk to town, but if you have business to attend to you can stay "home" and do that, too: The guest workstation is ready to connect you to the office. Guests at The Troy-Bumpas Inn Bed and Breakfast are served a gourmet breakfast daily, and the buffet is kept well stocked with homemade cookies at all other times. Guest rooms in Andrea's Troy-Bumpas Inn Bed & Breakfast are located on the second floor. All have private baths with hair dryers and bathrobes provided. The guest rooms are decorated with period antiques or reproductions, and each has a fireplace. Contemporary considerations include a telephone and cable television in each room (DVD players with library, VCR located in the parlor), top-of-the-line Serta mattresses, and Egyptian cotton sheets. Smoking is not permitted anywhere inside the Inn. Off-street parking is provided. Children under five not allowed.
