Circa 1946 – Situated behind a white picket fence and directly across the street from The College of William and Mary, this Colonial two-story home is within walking distance of the unique Merchants Square shopping center and Colonial Williamsburg itself. Newly decorated with an English and French country flair each of the spacious rooms exudes the traditions of colonial architecture including inside shutters, beamed ceilings, old latch doors, chair rails and hardwood floors while blending with modern appointments and convenience. We offer three bedrooms each with a private bath. Our largest room, Indigo, has a draped four poster king size bed and a twin size daybed. The Bayberry Room is a delightfully decorated room with two twin beds (which can be converted to a king bed) dressed in traditional toile, floral and striped fabrics. Clary Sage Room has a beautiful queen size iron bed nestled in a sophisticated and serene setting. All our beds are dressed in crisp Egyptian cotton sheets, traditional matalesse coverlets or bedspreads and soft, comfy European down comforters and pillows. In the morning a collection of artisan crafted roosters quietly greet you in the charming dining room. Early morning coffee sits on the old dry sink and an antique hutch holds traditional blue willow dinnerware. A full breakfast is served which may include one of our signature dishes: Nick’s Mulberry Breakfast Custard or freshly baked scones served with mulberry jam. Enjoy your after breakfast cup of coffee or tea outside in the gardens and you’ll be serenaded by cardinals, doves, finches & other feathered friends that live in our bird sanctuary. After a day of exploring or shopping relax in the comfortable sitting room where a cozy fire may be lit. Pull up a chair to the armoire where, for your convenience, a computer with free internet access is available. Or page through a magazine or book. Sit at the Queen Anne writing desk where you pen an old fashioned note to a friend.
