Visit us for a taste of real Southern hospitality Hidden Oaks is a large plantation style home set on 1-1/2 acres in the city of Houston, built in 1927 by Samuel Ezekiel and Bessie Allen. Samuel was the great grandson of Ezekiel Thomas who came to Texas from South Carolina in 1822. Ezekiel was a member of the 'Old Three Hundred', the first 300 families to receive title to property in Texas from Stephen F. Austin. These families were viewed as historic elite. Allen's parents, Samuel Ezekiel Allen and Rosa Christie Lum, were among the most prominent Texas ranchers at the turn of the century. Their cattle ranch expanded to a 13,000 acre operation.
