Overview
Located in the scenic Shenandoah Valley and nestled between the branches of the North and South Rivers of the Shenandoah lies Port Republic, Virginia, the home of Grandma's Cottage Bed & Breakfast. Mr. George May built our home after the Civil War in 1892. We purchased the house in February 1971 from Mr. B. Frank Hite. At that time the house had a path but no bath. Heat was provided by wood stoves and the house was in much needed repair. Raising a family of three children and remodeling at the same time was slow work but enjoyed. In 1988, most of the remodeling on the house was completed. We named our home Village Touch. By 1994, the last child had left the 'nest.' In 1999, we started to dream about operating a bed and breakfast and slow down our pace. We then put our dream to work with remodeling the back of the house and filling it with antiques and bygone memorabilia. After completion of the two rooms, we lovingly named it Grandma's Cottage Bed & Breakfast. Our dream became reality in September 2000. Our three children have now grown to include spouses, grandchildren, one cat named Pootier, roosters and we have lost count of the number of hens Our extended family includes many aunts, uncles, brothers, sisters, cousins and our many friends. You are now included in the family of friends. WELCOME...come sit and stay a spell
