Overview
The Huffman property features three contributing historic buildings, an early nineteenth century barn, a farmhouse built circa 1835 with an addition and remodeling in 1906, and an early twentieth century store. Located along a primary travel route of the eighteenth, nineteenth, and early twentieth centuries, the complex developed over time and has had many commercial and travel related uses in addition to its primary purpose as an agricultural complex. The earliest section of the house rests atop a brick foundation and is insulated with brick. The property is surrounded by Sinking Creek. There is a 'baptismal hole' in a section of the creek where local churches performed baptisms in the late 1800's and early 1900's. There have been several performed since the opening of the b&b. Ron & Carol love to give tours of the house and Ron enjoys taking guests to meet all the animals. The Appalachian Trail is a half mile from the Huffman House. Hikers enjoy a respite from rigors of the trail and the gourmet breakfasts. Many guests go for short hikes on the at.
