The Mansion is in downtown Lincoln Park with fine shops, cafes, restaurants, theatres, museums, Second City, comedy, bi-weekly organic farmers' markets, free zoo, botanical gardens, North Av beach, day spas, hair & nail salons, grocery, gourmet deli, bakeries, art galleries and for any jetlag or late nights a 24-hour pharmacy, 24-hour health club w pool, 24-hour restaurant & 24-hour Starbucks all within 1/2 to 2 blocks To get elsewhere the subway/el, taxicabs, and 7 buses are just 1/2 to 2 blocks. Navy Pier or The Mag Mile is less than 5 minutes by subway. Wrigley Field is a 2-mile door-to-door bus ride. The Mansion was designed 1886 by architect HM Hansen & is now a Historically Significant Building, with all its original Victorian detail Giannini & Hilgart stained glass, Steuben fixtures, pocket doors & shutters, inlaid floors, decorative fireplaces, carved wood trim, plaster ceiling medallions, etc. Its 19th century furnishings and artwork reflect the home's original charm, and its 21st century conveniences such as central ac, free secured inn-wide WiFi and our strict non-smoking policy all contribute to our guests' comfort. This is a very special place to stay, unlike anything in Chicago On the first level is a living room with Bose stereo, formal dining room to seat ten, half bath and full eat-in kitchen with period-style appliances including a dishwasher, double oven, etc. Guests may book a single room or the entire inn. for 1 - 10 guests. We have 4 bedrooms with 5 beds- two rooms have queen beds and private baths on the second floor, and a 2-bedroom suite with 1 queen and 2 twin beds and a shared bath is on the top floor . The Celestial Chamber is graced with a hand-carved Victorian headboard & canopy over its queen bed, walk-in closet with full-length mirror and built-in dresser, large granite-topped desk, widescreen TV with dvd, Bose radio with CD player. Its spacious bath has a dressing area and large shower-for-two with Corian walls and seat. Note that this private bathroom's entrance is a few feet down the hall, but a thick terry bathrobe is provided for each guest. The spacious Architect's Quarters offers a sitting area with down-filled settee, dressing room walk-in closet, antique desk,handsome armoire, widescreen TV with dvd & Bose radio. Its original architectural details include Giannini & Hilgart stained glass window, marble sink outside of the bathroom, decorative fireplace and pocket-shuttered windows. Behind a pocket door the bathroom has an over-sized clawfoot bathtub with handheld shower. The Parlour Suite has a seating area w widescreen TV w dvd, extra sink, coffee maker, refrigerator & microwave, private sundeck, bathroom w clawfoot tub & shower and 2 guest rooms. The Art Nouveau Guest boasts an ornate queen-bed & armoire by Louis Marjorelle, desk, Tivoli radio.The Lit Bateau has 2 single beds, large closet, clock-radio w CD player and antique hutch/desk.
