Overview

The beachfront Sebel Reef House and Spa is a boutique resort located approximately 18 miles north of Cairns and Cairns International Airport. Nearby attractions include the Great Barrier Reef and the World Heritage Daintree rainforest. Hotel amenities include the health spa, three swimming pools, two Jacuzzis, poolside cafe (near the waterfall), beach lounges, Brigadier's Bar & Lounge, and Reef House Restaurant, which overlooks a palm-lined esplanade and the beach and serves Mediterranean- and Asian-style cuisine by Executive Chef Philip Mitchell. Reef House Spa occupies a freestanding two-story building with three treatment rooms, a Serenity Verandah, and two dual treatment rooms (each with a private Jacuzzi). A freshwater moat frames the building with access via a wooden footbridge. The original Reef House was built in 1958 by a Cairns bookmaker and used as a family home. Continuing a long tradition, each evening candles are lit throughout the resort denoting Twilight Hour, an opportunity to meet with other world travelers over a complimentary glass of Brigadier's Punch. All rooms feature white wicker interiors, netting draperies over the beds, air-conditioning and ceiling fans, private verandahs or terraces, tea/coffee facilities, refrigerators, honor bars, bathrobes, turndown service, hairdryers, safes, comprehensive audio systems, large-screen TVs, DVD players, and complimentary CD, DVD, game, and book libraries. Rooms are derived from the Queenslander experience, opening up to the tropical environment with indoor-outdoor living.
