Great Wolf Lodge Traverse City Water Park
For an active vacation that's fun for the whole family, look no further than Great Wolf Lodge in Traverse City. While the huge indoor water park is the
resort's biggest draw, there is plenty to keep families occupied. There is an arcade, a spa with packages for kids and adults, a children's activities room and an interactive game called MagiQuest. Every night the little ones can gather in the lobby for a story before bedtime.
Wows and Woes
Wows: The water park is kept at 84 degrees F, so it is comfortable even in winter. It can be difficult to find an unclaimed deck chair.
Woes: There is an adults-only hot tub next to the family hot tub.
Insider Tips
Kids area in themed suite.
Consider a themed suite since kids enjoy having their own space. Don't forget to bring sandals or flip-flops, especially in winter. Snow boots don't make good pool wear!
Great Wolf Lodge has a sit down restaurant and a snack bar. The resort's ice cream shop serves generous scoops of ice cream as well as coffee and milk and cereal if you want to skip the big breakfast in the restaurant.
Author's Most Memorable Moment
My kids absolutely loved the MagiQuest game at Great Wolf Lodge. You buy an interactive "magic wand" that causes pictures to talk and treasure chests to open, then proceed to go on quests around the hotel. When you've collected enough artifacts, you can help a princess or battle a dragon. The game can take several hours to complete, but play can be spread out throughout your stay.
Bottom Line
Great Wolf Lodge is a great place for anyone who enjoys water parks, but is particularly geared toward families with kids and teens.
