Whitehall, New York is known as the birthplace of the U.S. Navy.
In a valley at the southern end of Lake Champlain, the historic town of Whitehall,
New York welcomes visitors to explore its history and area. Depending on the season, pick fruit at Apple Hill Orchard, play golf at one of the area's courses, rent a boat or take a Champlain Canal Tour. Biking and hiking trails also showcase the area's lush landscape. In the off season, the Skenesborough Museum showcases local history, including the town's legacy as the birthplace of the
United States Navy. The town was settled in 1759. Throughout the day, Whitehall restaurants serve up fare from plentiful breakfasts to lunch plates featuring hot sandwiches or homemade specials, to dinners with entrees ranging from fresh seafood to prime rib.

The restaurant, operating out of the Lock 12 Marina, is open for lunch and dinner year round. The menu highlights fresh seafood, with a sampling that includes Shrimp and Scallops Au Gratin, Lobster Seafood Casserole and Crab cakes. Pork, beef and chicken are also on the menu. Every dish is made to order. After the entrée, indulge in a homemade slice of pie, the fudge brownie or crisp Tiramisu.

Known for its Italian dishes, this mom and pop restaurant begs guests to indulge in plentiful plates piled high with spaghetti and meatballs or lasagna. Open for breakfast, lunch and dinner, this main street coffee shop in Whitehall beckons diners with old fashioned fare. Dig into a plate of pancakes, eggs and bacon or a three-egg omelet at breakfast. Order one of the steaming mugs of coffee or hot chocolate at Captains Coffee Shop. For lunch choose from tuna salad sandwich, fish and chips or a cheeseburger piled high with toppings.
