Ramseur in central North Carolina offers an idyllic setting for a wedding.
If your "I do's" are meant to be said outdoors, consider a wedding in the quaint, country setting of Ramseur, North Carolina. Named for Stephen Dodson Ramseur, a Confederate general in the Civil War, this small town in the scenic Piedmont Triad region of central North Carolina still rings its downtown church bells hourly everyday. With a few local parks to choose from, and an idyllic location, Ramseur just might turn up at the top of your wedding-site list.
Ramseur Lake
Known officially as the Kermit G. Pell Water-Based Recreation Facility, 127-acre Ramseur Lake and the surrounding parklands can easily accommodate a variety of wedding-party sizes. Smaller wedding groups can hold their ceremony on the T-shaped pier over the water and rent one or more of the shelters for the reception. In the summer of 2009, a 250-person ceremony was held on an open grassy slope leading down to the water's edge. Spring affairs are especially nice with the dogwoods in bloom, while the many colors of fall foliage work well for an autumn wedding. These sprawling grounds boast boat rentals, four picnic shelters, picnic tables with grills, restroom facilities, a children's playground and paved parking.
