New York is a lively suburban spot filled with cultural diversity, blooming businesses and much to do for both residents and tourists. With New York City and Long Island favorably located to its south, Westchester is ideal for sailing, fishing, golfing and hiking. Westchester also provides venues such as theaters, museums and many restaurants serving a variety of cuisines. If you plan a visit and would like to dine in a restaurant with waterfront views, here are a few options.
Fox Island Seafood House
Located on the eastern side of Westchester County, Fox Islands Seafood House overlooks the Byram River. With its casual setting and an open deck for patrons wanting to dine al fresco, Fox Island Seafood House serves Mediterranean-style seafood and Tuscan-style thin crust pizzas baked in a wood-burning oven. To keep things fresh, this restaurant changes the menu monthly, rotating items such as the wild mushroom mac and cheese appetizer, various salads, pizzas, raw bar serving oysters, clams, lobster and various seafood items. Entrees include the crispy skinned Scottish salmon, steak-house rubbed rare Hawaiian tuna, linguini with white clam sauce and braised short ribs. Fox Island Seafood House opens Wednesday through Sunday and is closed on Mondays and Tuesdays.

Red Hat on the River
If you are near the village of Irvington, visiting the Red Hat on the River restaurant for a scenic dining experience is a good bet. With a widespread view of the Hudson River from its terrace, this restaurant offers a formal dining room, a dining loft and a bistro-style bar area. Red Hat on the River has a seasonal rustic menu that offers a variety of dishes such as salmon and lentils, grilled Atlantic swordfish, the Claiborne steak, prime Colorado lamb shank and pasta du jour which varies daily. Open Monday through Sunday for lunch and dinner, Red Hat also offers live jazz on Wednesday nights.

Striped Bass
Situated along the Hudson River, the Striped Bass restaurant offers patrons the opportunity to dine on its waterfront patio to appreciate beautiful scenic views of the Tappan Zee Bridge. With a casual atmosphere and regularly scheduled live music, the Striped Bass restaurant serves oysters, shrimp, lobster and clams from its raw bar, plus a variety of seafood dishes like the buffalo shrimp appetizer, blackened salmon salad and entrees like the seafood ravioli, jumbo lump crab cake, chicken asparagus and grilled ahi tuna. Open for lunch and dinner, Monday through Sunday, the Striped Bass also offers its Cabana Grill & Bar section which serves burgers, sandwiches and snacks as well as full bar service.
