Charleston, S.C., has many great waterfront restaurants.
In many ways, water can be viewed as the lifeblood of Charleston, S.C. The city itself is paced by the ebb and flow of the tides, not just on the many islands and
beaches that surround it, but in downtown proper, a place where the very new and the very old live near a backdrop of harbors, rivers, marshes and oceans. With so much water teeming with fresh and delicious seafood, it's little wonder that many Charleston restaurants offer waterfront dining to add to the experience.
Fleet Landing Restaurant
Fleet Landing is a unique Charleston waterfront restaurant housed in a 6,000 square foot maritime structure that shoots into the marsh and offers wide views of the Harbor from every seat. This casual restaurant seats 180 inside and 100 outside and is open seven days a week for lunch and dinner. Brunch is served on weekends. Reservations are always a good idea, especially for the peak hours of dinner and weekends. The extensive menu features plenty of seafood and Southern specialties such as shrimp and grits, fried green tomatoes and seared scallops. Beer, wine and mixed drinks are also available.

Vendue Inn Rooftop Cocktail Bar & Restaurants
There are several dining options at Charleston's Vendue Inn, but the Rooftop Cocktail Bar & Restaurant is where residents and visitors head when they want to eat next to some of the most transporting waterfront views Charleston has to offer. The food menu is limited--detailing a range of sandwiches, wraps, appetizers and salads--but the bar is always open, and the views of Charleston Harbor, the Waterfront Park, Fort Sumter and the Cooper River Bridge are unparalleled in the city.

California Dreaming
This Charleston waterfront restaurant is on the banks of the Ashley River and has plenty of seating indoors and out. Known for fresh American cuisine, large portions and reasonable prices, California Dreaming serves lunch and dinner daily. The restaurant's nautical theme works well with the location, and even though the menu has plenty of seafood offerings--from peel-and-eat shrimp to broiled salmon salad to fried flounder--there is a lot here for diners looking for more earthy fare. Their selection of aged beef steaks and baby back ribs are two perennial bestsellers.
