Disneyland is an incomparable
family vacation spot, and can give your kids memories that will last a lifetime. But a visit requires good preparation, just like anywhere else, and it pays to be familiar with the place before you bring your kids there. A few quick tips can help you manage a family visit much more easily.
Meeting Place
It's easy to get separated in the park and while Disneyland has a great lost child service, you usually don't want things to come to that. Find a good landmark and tell your kids to go there if they ever become separated--there's a statue of Walt and Mickey in front of Sleeping Beauty's Castle which makes an excellent meeting place.
Hydrate
Anaheim can be surprisingly warm, and long waits in line take their toll. Make sure your kids have plenty of water to drink while in the park.
Sunscreen
Going hand in hand with the need for water is the need for proper sun protection. Take some sunscreen along and apply it to your kids before they hit the rides.
Fantasyland First
Fantasyland, which lies just beyond Snow White's Castle, has some of the most popular attractions for young children. Arrive early and make that your first destination; you'll avoid the lines which come later in the day.
Souvenirs
Disneyland sells tons of souvenirs, but if you buy one for your kid in the middle of the day, he may drop it or get tired of holding it. Save souvenir purchases until you're ready to leave, or have them send your souvenirs to the exit gate where you can pick them up when you go.
