beach, Florida actually consists of five different incorporated towns--Vero Beach, Indian River Shores, Sebastian, Orchid and Fellsmere. The area is located in Indian River County on the east coast of Florida and is known for recreational tourism and citrus production.
History
Vero Beach was first settled in the 1840s. The railroad established in 1893 brought more farmers, fishermen and citrus growers to the area. With pristine beaches, tourism soon became the area's growth industry.

Vero Beach is located 135 miles north of Miami and 190 miles south of Jacksonville on the east coast of Florida. It is approximately a 1 1/2-hour drive to Orlando and Palm Beach.

Vero Beach's population is approximately 18,000, with an average age of 47 years and average income in 2009 or $45,000.

The area has a moderate climate, with an average temperature of 74 degrees, humidity of 70 percent and the most rain occurring between June and October (approximately 6 to 7 inches per month).
Industry
The city's most prevalent industries include citrus packing, tourism and aerospace manufacturing (Piper Aircraft manufactures in Vero Beach).
Beaches
Vero Beach has beautiful ocean beaches and the Indian River Lagoon that is a waterway sheltered from the open ocean that provides multiple marinas and water activity opportunities.
