Pros and Cons

Canaan Valley offers free shuttle service between the lodge and ski area. For skiers, the Canaan Valley Resort area is a paradise, featuring 37 slopes of varying difficulty. Child care is offered for kids ages two to six, and ski and snowboard lessons are offered. There is one restaurant located within the lodge, and others nearby within driving distance. Some complain that there is not enough snow-making at Canaan Valley, but the fact that there are virtually no lines for skiers to wait in makes up for any negatives. If you don't mind staying in rustic rooms, Canaan Valley is perfect for you. If you're looking for luxury, however, you might want to choose other accommodations.

Bottom Line

If you are looking for an affordable, year-round getaway, Canaan Valley Resort & Conference Center is for you. With special packages year-round, golfers, skiers, and families will all find something appealing to each of them. Although the accommodations are a bit unrefined, the lodge rooms are probably the most sophisticated ones will find in the area. While it is not backwoods by any means, Canaan Valley Resort & Conference Center lacks some of the more luxurious amenities of other ski resorts. In this area of West Virginia, however, Canaan Valley Resort & Conference Center is at the top of the list of Grade A accommodations. Those who choose to stay here will not be disappointed.
