About Universal Studios in Hollywood, California

Universal Studios, Hollywood is one of three Universal Studios parks as of 2009. Two more are scheduled to open by 2012. Originally built as a movie studio, modifications were made to add a theme park right in the same lot with major movie sets. Even with the theme park open, Universal Studios, Hollywood is still a running movie studio. Traveling on the studio tours or backlot visits can offer a lot of surprises since there is almost always something big going on.
Park Information

Universal Studios is open all year long with extended hours throughout Easter, the summer, Thanksgiving and Christmas.

Theme Park

The theme park of Universal Studios has rides to meet the needs of the entire family. With dozens of options, park goers can choose from fast, thrilling rides or smaller kiddie rides. There are also restaurants and character photo opportunities throughout the park.

Studio Tours

Studio tours are available through Universal Studios, allowing visitors to tour backlot sets of their favorite television shows and movies.

Citywalk

Citywalk, located within Universal Studios, is the entertainment district of the park. With restaurants, bars, shops, movie theaters, and concert venues, there's always something for everyone here. Citywalk opens with the park each morning and is often open several hours after the theme park closes.

Concerts

The Gibson Amphitheater, located in Universal Studios Citywalk, holds concerts throughout the year.
