Turtle Bay Resort Activities

Turtle Bay is a tropical resort nestled into the coastline of Oahu, Hawaii. They offer luxury suites, fine dining restaurants and golf courses for those wishing to make the most out of their vacation. From horseback trail rides along the beach to kayak trips through secluded bays to helicopter sightseeing tours around the island, there is an activity for everyone at Turtle Bay. And most of these activities can be set up with the front desk upon your arrival or at a point during your stay.
Horseback Riding

Turtle Bay has its own stable of horses to offer for trail rides, private rides and pony rides for small children. Trail rides run in the morning, afternoon and evening and last around 45 minutes. They are $55 per person in the early parts of the day and go up to $75 to $90 for sunset and evening rides. If you would like a little more in-depth knowledge about riding, private riding lessons are available each morning with a reservation. They run for an hour and include learning skills such as walking, trotting and cantering. The cost for private horse riding lessons is $100. Pony walks last 20 minutes and are available for children under the age of 7. Staff leads the horse with the child and parents are usually present. Pony walks are available on a daily basis and cost $25 per child (all prices as of 2009).

Kayaking

Two-hour guided tours of the North Shore are offered by kayak for those wishing to try something a little different than a normal hike. You can take a single kayak or a double with a friend and you will be able to see areas including a World War II bunker and the beach of Kawela Bay. A main part of the kayak tours is to see sea turtles in their natural habitat as well as other marine wildlife and birds. Snacks and drinks are provided for those participating.

Beach Activities

Turtle Bay has its own stretch of beach where you can swim, snorkel, surf or just lay out on the sand. For those who have never surfed before, it offers a free 20-minute surf lesson every day at 9 a.m. in the main pool. Here you get basic training including paddling, turning and water safety. More in-depth surfing lessons are also available for either groups ($75 per person) or individuals ($95 for an hour or $150 for two hours) (prices as of 2009). If you want to try out some different types of activities on the beach, rental items include boogie boards, skim boards, snorkel sets and vests, and even beach volleyball equipment (by the hour or by the day).

Helicopter Tours

One of the most exciting activities offered by Turtle Bay is helicopter rides. It has its own on-site helicopter tours available for guests. The "Oahu Experience" lasts one hour and goes along the Windward Coast and includes Sacred Falls, Kaneohe Bay, Koko Head, Diamond Head and the North Shore surf breaks. The "Best of Oahu" ride lasts 40 minutes and includes Sacred Falls, Koolau Mountains and Kaneohe Bay. For a quick sightseeing trip, the "North Shore and Waterfall Adventure" is just 20 minutes and includes Sacred Falls, Waimea Bay, Sunset Beach and Bonzai Pipeline. Helicopter rides cost from $129 to $239 depending on the flight, and discounts may be available depending on the package deal you get when you book your stay (as of 2009).
