Rochester,
New York is known for its hots (hot dogs) and frozen custard, but the small city, surrounded by farm land and orchards, is also home to several fine dining restaurants. Spring and summer are great times to experience "Flower City" in bloom, but museums, hiking, wineries and the Eastman School of Music make Rochester a year-round destination.
2 Vine
2 Vine uses local, organic produce in its seasonal menus and has seafood flown in daily from Boston. Specialties run from comfort food such as meatloaf to grand platters of fresh seafood. Salads are made with special care, and the wine list ranges from local New York State wines to grand crus. The restaurant is also celebrated for its steaks, made with Angus beef. 2 Vine is next to the art movie house, The Little Theatre.

Max of Eastman Place
Max of Eastman Place is a great place to go if you are seeing a show at the Eastman Theater at the University of Rochester. The intimate steakhouse, also closed Sundays, offers live jazz some nights. Seafood lovers and vegetarians will also find plenty of choices. The menu is market-driven, with local organic produce highlighted. There is also a lunch-only branch at The Memorial Art Gallery.
