Things to Do in Wildwood New Jersey
Wildwood, New Jersey is a sea
resort community that attracts visitors of all ages. Especially popular in summer, the area offers all kinds of attractions, many of them closely linked to the sea and the nautical tradition that helped built this town. Whether visiting for a couple of days or staying over for a week-long vacation, there are some must-sees that capture the spirit of Wildwood.
Hereford Inlet Lighthouse
The Hereford Lighthouse was built in 1874 and was in use well into the 1960s. Nowadays, the still-functioning lighthouse is a nautical museum and one of the main attractions in the area. Visitors can walk to the top of the tower, admire the paintings in the museum/art gallery or spend time in the gardens surrounding the lighthouse. There are also special events held here throughout the year, including an orchid show, several craft fairs and a traditional Christmas Tree Lighting.

George F. Boyer Historical Museum
A great place to learn about the history and cultural background of Wilwood, this museum is alive with photographs, memorabilia and artifacts going back to the 1880s, when the first Nordic settlers arrived in the area. The museum also houses the Marbles Hall of Fame, a collection of trophies and photographs of winners of the annual Marble Tournament, held in Wildwood every year since 1922. Open to boys and girls 8 to 14 years old, the competition is held outside, in specially-designed platforms set on the sand.
