Things to Do in the Virginia Beach Area

Virginia beach, Virginia, is a great beach town to visit for vacation, and its central Eastern Seaboard location is especially convenient if you live on the East Coast. From relaxing on the beach to walking down the city's vibrant Boardwalk or even visiting the aquarium, there is no shortage of things to do and see while visiting the Virginia Beach area.
Boardwalk

Virginia Beach's Boardwalk is a cheerful place full of the sounds of happy tourists, children playing, lilting music and a bevy of entertainment and recreational options, such as rollerblading, jogging, walking and cycling. If you want to play old-fashioned carnival games on the Boardwalk, you can do that as well. The Boardwalk also has casual food options, such as hot dogs, pretzels and cotton candy. If you want to experience a festive outdoor atmosphere, the Boardwalk is the way to go.

Virginia Aquarium

The Virginia Aquarium and Marine Science Center is one of the United States' finest marine science museums. The aquarium's features include a massive sea turtle aquarium, sharks, a lab for hatching turtles and a three-dimensional IMAX theater that is six stories high. This large aquarium has more than 100 exhibits, including the "open ocean" area.

Ocean Breeze Waterpark

The Ocean Breeze Waterpark, Virginia Beach's sole water park, has an assortment of exciting water rides for both children and adults. Some of the water park's rides are the Grape Escape, Buccaneer Bay, Silly Slides, Paradise Pipeline, Runaway Bay and Largo Loop. There are also rides for small children in the Kiddie Caverns area of the park.

First Landing State Park

First Landing State Park, on Chesapeake Bay, is Virginia's most popular state park. There are recreational activities to engage in while at First Landing State Park, including hiking, boating, swimming, cycling and picnicking. The park even offers an abundance of educational history and nature programs. The park is also a great camping site and offers restrooms and showers for campers.
