South
beach, which is the southernmost area of the city of
Miami Beach, is a world-famous destination for tourists from all over the world. It is known for the beautiful people that live and visit there, sandy
beaches, great weather, and some of the most luxurious restaurants, hotels, and shopping boutiques in the
United States. Certainly, South Beach has all of these things and more. If you are visiting South Beach, it's important to research the things to do there in order to know how you most want to spend your time. Here are a few things to please just about anyone visiting South Beach.
The Beach
The number one reason people visit South Beach is to actually set foot on the sand, soak up some sun and splash around in the ocean. There are plenty of chances to do that on South Beach. The best time to do this is before and after the rainy season, which lasts throughout the summer months. During that time, the weather is prone to unexpected showers and sometimes unbearable heat. When you do make it, check out the boardwalk to the very south of the beach and then head north. The water is warm, and the people-watching is superb.
Shopping
South Beach is known for its one-of-a-kind shopping. There you will find so many tiny boutique shops you won't know what to do with yourself. The best place to go to shop is the Lincoln Road mall. This is an outdoor strip with lots of high-end brand-name stores and small, independent shops that sell hard-to-find clothes by foreign designers. Some of the products on South Beach are a bit pricey, but the quality is great and everything that is sold is fashion-forward and hip. Other great places for shopping can be found on Washington Street and the main roads near there.
Nightlife
South Beach is also a great place to sample the cuisine of some of the best chefs and most popular restaurants in the country. Ocean Drive has many great establishments where you can find five-star cuisine from all over the world. There is plenty of outdoor seating so you can enjoy the ocean breeze during the day and check out the fashionable people walking by at night. Afterward, you can check out some of the clubs and bars on South Beach. These range from local dive bars with great drink specials to velvet-roped clubs with long lines and fancy cocktails. Whatever your scene is, you'll find it on South Beach.
