Fun Things to Do in San Francisco on Halloween
San Francisco is a terrific place to be on Halloween. With everything from wild parties to beautiful processions, visitors will find a plethora of fun activities for all ages.
The Spiderball
The Spiderball is an annual event that works to better the San Francisco Bay area. Hosted at the historic Bentley Reserve, the main room of the building serves as the hall of freaks. As disc jockeys take turns spinning funky stuff, boys and ghouls shake their back sides in between many live performances. A separate, quieter "chill room" is also available, as well as six different bars.

Red Union Hair Salon
The Red Union Hair Salon, in conjunction with numerous area salons, produces a contest known as Project Headway. This contest challenges area salon artists to create the best Halloween hair and makeup. Using severed mannequin heads, the results are often hilarious.

Dia de los Muertos
Dia de los Muertos, or the Day of the Dead, is an event that has been occurring in the Mission District of San Francisco for 30 years. The holiday, which honors the dead, is full of candles, marigolds, rich costumes and a lively spirit. If there is one event to see in San Francisco on Halloween, this is it.

San Francisco Ghost Hunt Walking Tour
No Halloween could be complete in San Francisco without a ghost hunt walking tour. The typical tour takes visitors to several haunted sites over a fun-filled two hours, and often includes ghost stories as well as actual objects found in the spooky places. Dress warmly, as searching for ghosts in foggy San Francisco can get a bit chilly.
