Fun Things to Do in Park City, Utah

Park City is a resort town nestled in the Rocky Mountains, about 30 minutes from Utah's capital of Salt Lake City. Although Park City is best known for its winter skiing options, there are many fun activities to do there no matter what time of year it is or what age you are.
Fall/Winter Activities

Fall in Park City sees a lot of hot air balloons in the frosty mornings. As the leaves change, this bird's eye view is unforgettable. Similarly, there are guided hikes and horseback riding tours to let you view the changing leaves up close.
Park City has multiple options for downhill skiing and snowboarding that can fit any budget or skill. There are also options for helicopter and snowcat skiing. If cross-country skiing is more your thing, you can head 20 minutes down the road to the small town of Midway, where you will find Soldier Hollow, which was the site of the cross-country skiing competition during the 2002 Winter Olympics. In downtown Park City, you can book a sleigh ride, take a spin on an ice skating rink or get advice on the best local spots for tubing and sledding.
Every January, Park city hosts the Sundance Film Festival. Attend a show or just hang out and stargaze on Main Street. Some tickets need to be purchased months in advance, while others aren't available until just before the show time, so make sure you plan ahead.

Spring/Summer Activities

In the Spring and Summer months, Park City offers outdoor theater and concerts as well as adventure camps for the kids. Try out the Alpine Slide, which is a 3,000-foot luge ride down the mountainside. There are multiple guided hikes and horseback ride options available, as well as ATV rental. Park City has several reservoirs nearby which offer options for water sports and fishing. You can rent a mountain bike and take advantage of one of the many biking trails in the area. Golfers have multiple resorts and golf courses from which to choose.

Year-round

Park City is home to many artists, and there are multiple galleries to visit to admire and buy original artwork. Historic Main Street has many shops and a variety of restaurants as well. If you are tired from the uphill hike, you can catch a ride on the free trolley that runs the length of Main Street. Nearby Heber City has a historic railroad that runs short scenic trips year-round. Park City has an exciting nightlife, and there are several bars where you can meet and greet or just unwind a little after a day of activities.
